Remixing a JamPack demo song. Been into this sound lately. If you like it, you should check out Tijuana Cartel. Their album Frequent Flyers have been a constant companion to this summer’s day trips.

In my real life I’m in television advertising, and sometimes I also create production music to go in the background for these. In April 2007 I created this ad:
One of those annoying late night ads to be sure. However if you’ve paid attention to commercial R&B lately (I certainly haven’t, but buddy Brandon tipped me off), you might have heard some slight similarities in this April 2008 Usher track:
A complete ripoff!
OK, to be fair we might just have used the same royalty free GarageBand supplied sample set (Euro Hero), but it just goes to show that with very a minimum of know-how and free Apple-supplied software you too can be a million dollar hip hop producer!

Update: I’m of course not the first to notice this. From Wikipedia:
“Love in This Club” is a mid-tempo song that strongly seems to be made out of a couple stock loops (Euro Hero Synths) from the Apple Inc. GarageBand software, although denied by Polow da Don.[5] The song features guest vocals from Young Jeezy. According to Polow da Don, the lyrics are not about sex, they’re about having the urge. Polow da Don wanted to call the song “Lust at first sight”.[3]
Polow da Don denied that he was using Euro Hero Synths from Apple? When it is dead plain obvious? That makes him Douchebag of the Year™ in my book.
It’s not laziness, this guy is just that versatile. Very hot 80s inspired remix and great production:

Based on feedback (thanks DJ Medi4), I’ve updated reworked this mix a bit. I removed the piano, extended it with more vocals and mastered the track a bit better. Should be an altogether smoother and more floor-friendly mix now.

All round good bloke LeeDM101 takes Britney into a dark and scary place:

I thought I’d make it a proper music blog and not just a narsicistic wank for my own stuff, so here goes my first recommendation: 5 Fingers’ fantastic update of The Prodigy’s (am I on a Prodigy kick lately or what?) classic Everybody’s In The House.
Somebody needs to play this on a dancefloor I am on ASAP!

My favourite José González track (yes, including his covers of Heartbeats, Love Will Tear Us Apart and Teardrop) Crosses gets a break makeover. Only after I finished this I realised that Stanton Warriors already did one. Heh. I shall check it out any day now.
